Kata-Karon Hotels For a map of Kata, please click here. For a map of Karon, please click here. Kata-Karon is known as a generally more quiet area on the West Coast of Phuket. There are three beaches: Kata Yai, Kata Noi, and Karon Yai. We have a wide variety of activities and restaurants, but quieter than Patong. Our office is located in Kata Beach, near the Jiva Resort, behind Club Med.

Central Karon Village	A beautifully designed hotel on the cliffs of Karon Beach looking south. Tasteful rooms, central location half-way between Patong and Karon Beaches.
Pacific Club Phuket	Perched high on the hill about Karon Beach, bordering national forest areas lies the new Pacific Club. Although, pretty far from the Pacific Ocean, the US born owner Eric has made quite a little getaway facing the Andaman Sea. Reasonable rates, wonderful views, and a nice choice or rooms as well as excellent food make it a great choice for singles, couples, or families.
Phuket Arcadia	Right in the middle of Karon Beach, this hotel is one of the largest in Phuket. Beautiful sweeping views, two pools, great facilities. Often booked, so book in advance.
Karon Inn on the Beach	Right on Karon Beach in Phuket. Nice, reasonably priced hotel.
Thavorn Palm Beach	Centrally located, with several restaurants and lots of sporting facilities (like tennis courts).
Karon Front Village	A fairly new hotel with both ocean and lake views. Good location to nightlife, and closer to Patong than Kata.
Bougainvillea Resort	Both a resort and serviced apartments. Good for families or people staying together. Some have kitchens. 5-minutes walk to the beach, close to our office. Sea views in some rooms.
The Boathouse	Probably the finest boutique hotel in Kata, and hosts one of the largest wine cellars in the country. Only 36 rooms, very elegant. Directly on the beach in Kata.
Peach Hill Resort and Hotel	Two locations, one in the center of Kata, the other on the hill overlooking the Andaman Sea.
Kata Thani Resort and Hotel	The only 4-Star resort in Kata Noi, directly on the beach. Kata Noi is arguably the prettiest beach on the south coast. Very quiet. Will need transportation to get to shopping areas. If you want quiet, here it is.
Kata Centara Hotel	Not on the beach, but great value for money with very nice rooms and facilities. Also, on the same street as our office in Kata. 2-4 minute walk to Kata Beach, behind Club Med.
Kata-Karon Budget Hotels/ Bungalows - Good Guesthouse Site, best we've found so far:
Kata Poolside Bungalows	Clean, quiet, nice family, swimming pool, good restaurant, close to the beach.
Kata Noi Bay Inn	Comfortable guest house in quiet Kata Noi Beach.
Kata Country House	Clean and quiet, make last minute deals, 2-minute walk to our office.
Karon Cafe	A very nice inexpensive guesthouse and restaurant
Kata Orient	Clean rooms, air or fan, located directly across the street from us.
C. Tapkaew	Nice bungalow in quiet Kata Noi with sweeping views of the bay.
Smile Inn, Kata/ Patong	Clean and nice, in the heart of things...
Center Inn	A Scandinavian restaurant and guest house in Kata Center.
3rd Street Cafe	An elegant little guest house just behind the beach. Central location, nice and clean, nice food (no view, but nice taste in decorations me thinks).
Patong Hotels For a map of Patong, please click here. Patong is the tourist center of Phuket, and a very popular place to stay. Here you will find the widest range of shopping, nightlife, restaurants, and hotels. It's not for everyone, and it's not a quiet beach. However, it's the easiest beach to get around without your own transportation. If you want to party, it's the only place to be.
Holiday Inn, Patong	A very well appointed and run hotel on the beach in Patong. Check out the new Busakorn Wing. Spoil yourself.
Club Andaman Beach Resort	Club Andaman Resort is located on the quiet northern end of Patong Beach in 15 acres of secluded tropical gardens and coconut palms. Here, you and your family can laze the day away, unwinding, relaxing and sunbathing in a luxuriant tropical environment.
Impiana Phuket Cabana	Impiana Cabana Phuket (former Phuket Cabana Resort) is the only the hotel situated right on Patong Beach. The resort is in the very center of Patong which is easy access to shopping and entertainment areas while within the fence of Phuket Cabana Resort you will be at peace. No one sleeps closer to Patong beach than a Cabana Guest.
Le Meridien Resort	This Deluxe Resort Hotel has a wide range of restaurants and extensive leisure facilities. Situated on a secluded beach only 5 minutes from Patong.
Novotel	Novotel Phuket Resort is located on a hillside in Kalim Bay with only a short stroll to Patong Beach - famous for its shopping and nightlife.
Seaview Hotel	The Seaview Hotel, Phuket, Thailand enjoys the best of two worlds. It is nestled at the southern end of Patong against a mountain backdrop covered in lush, verdant tropical foliage. It's in Patong, but out of Patong, so it's a nice combination. Right across from the beach.
Patong Budget Hotels - Good Guesthouse Site, best we've found so far:
Expat Hotel	The Expat Hotel has 46 clean and comfortable rooms, in a garden setting, with a swimming pool. Centrally located to the beach and the nightlife area.
Honey House	The only reason this is listed is because of the name. Cute does not describe it. No idea if the hotel is any good or not, but probably is. There are many, many places like this in Patong. The hotel has 8 standard rooms, all rooms equipped with air con, TV, mini bar, cable TV, private bathroom with hot shower.
Ranong Hotels/ Isthmus Kra/ Koh Chang (for before or after Mergui diving trips, Myanmar)
Royal Princess Ranong	Of all the tourist class hotels in Ranong, only one stands out and this is the Royal Princess, managed by the Dusit Group. Not over-priced, very clean and comfortable, friendly staff, pretty good food (except breakfast), and close to downtown market areas (both fresh markets and "restaurant row where many foreign backpackers meet). Ranong is pretty quiet itself, but it's a nice gateway to many sites and Thai resort islands, waterfalls, and national parks.
Isthmus Kra Area & Fa Chi	This seems to be about the most information any one has compiled about the area around Ranong, and it's accurate, believe it or not. The Isthmus Kra Road runs from Chumpon to Ranong, so if you're coming into to or leaving from Ranong then this is a really good route to follow as it has to be one of the prettiest roads in all of Thailand. It has sweeping views of the river which separates Thailand from Myanmar (Burma), is very rural, and has a bit of WW2 History as it turns out the Japanese built a railroad line to the Andaman Sea from Chumpon but has now been torn down. Koh Phayam and Koh Chang (there are two Chang Islands in Thailand, one near Cambodia (Gulf of Thailand) and one near Ranong (Andaman Sea), near to Ranong and very much unspoiled and quiet. If you're looking for a place to stay before or after a Burma trip, then either one of these islands is a nice alternative to touristy Khao Lak.
Buffalo Bay Vacation Club	Koh Phayam. Haven't stayed here, just found it on an obscure website.
The Springs Guesthouse	A guesthouse on the way to the hot springs. Looks OK, gets good reviews. Central location. Near the Jansom Tara Hotel (Don't stay there, an overpriced dump).
Bangkok Hotels For maps of Bangkok, please click here. Bangkok, the City of Angels, is an amazing place and worth spending some time in, at least a couple of days if you can swing it. It is one of the easiest cities in Asia to fly in and out from, and generally prices into and out of Bangkok are less than other cities in the region.
The Oriental, Bangkok	The finest hotel in Bangkok, one of the finest in the world. A true taste of the orient. In operation for over 100 years. Consistently voted #1 world-wide!
Conrad Hotel	Conrad Hotel Bangkok is a jewel in the crown of the Thai capital with a premier location - The All Seasons Place. The property is in the heart of the central business district, and within walking distance of major embassies, commercial centers and the Skytrain. With panoramic views of Lumphini Park, All Seasons Place can be accessed from both Wireless Road and Soi Ruam Rudee, making it easier to get to Silom, Sathorn and Sukhumvit.
Grand Hyatt Erawan	A premier business travelers hotel with resort-style facilities. Popular with the city's high-society as a central meeting place, the hotel is noted for its variety of restaurants, evening entertainment center, and for hosting events. The spacious guestrooms with polished wood floors and oriental carpets give a warm, residential feeling to the surroundings.
Le Meridien President	Le Meridien Bangkok is located in a downtown, upscale shopping, business and diplomatic area. Within walking distance to Erawan Shrine and having the Skytrain on its doorstep and Lumphini Park close by its the perfect spot for sending time in bustling Bangkok. Le Meridien President also offers easy access to the airport via the Airport expressway, which is just 25 km away.
Amari Atrium	Amari Atrium hotel is located in New Petchburi Road. This stylish hotel is designed to offer every comfort and refinement. With a commitment to exceptional service, the management and staff will ensure that whether your stay is for leisure or business, it will be a relaxing and memorable one.
Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa	Located on the banks of the mighty Chao Phraya River, the hotel provides the ideal atmosphere for the demanding business and leisure traveler. The colonial style architecture is the perfect setting to adapt to Thai customs. All of the hotel s 417 rooms, whereof 67 are Suites, feature king or double/double beds and all rooms have a private balcony to enjoy the picturesque views of the river or city. On the river, you can reach ancient floating markets; the magnificent Grand Palace; splendid Buddhist temples, like Wat Poh with its colossal statue of the reclining Buddha and Wat Arun, the Temple of dawn, with its awesome tower, embedded with an array of colorful porcelain.
Grand President	Executive rooms and serviced apartments starting around $50 US, sometimes less. Three swimming pools, very clean and quiet rooms, sports facilities, right in the heart of Suhkumvit in Bangkok (Soi 11). Easy access to the expressway, 20 minutes to the airport.
Bangkok Budget Hotels
Bangkok.com	There are literally hundreds, possibly thousands! It's impossible for us to list even a few as things change so quickly. Generally, staying in the Sukumvit or Silom areas are convenient.
Khao San Road	The famous--or infamous street of travelers in Bangkok. If you're looking for budget and want to be close to the Chao Phraya River, then try this area. It's not for everyone, but it's a definite"cultural" experience. Great place to get a tattoo. Maybe you can write your own trashy novel about Thailand if you stay there for a month.
Nana Tai Mansion	Simple and clean, a bargain really considering it's location and quality of rooms. Many of the what used to be medium priced, basic places have gone up dramatically in price in recent years, or have become so run-down they are not worth staying in any longer. This hotel is still good. They have large rooms on the 8th floor, smaller rooms on other floors, but also two-bedroom suite rooms for a pretty good price. Nice pool, traditional massage, gym; all round good value.

Pimalai Resort	A beautiful new spa and classy resort on Lanta Island.

General hotel booking websites The following sites are hotel booking websites which specialize in online bookings and reservations. It's generally easier to book through one of these sites. However, the choices are vast, and you'll need to spend quite a lot of time browsing and looking closely at the options. Often you can get better prices by using one of these services, and since they are in the IT business, they usually respond faster to individual requests than the hotels do. Phuket.com and Bangkok.com are excellent sites, well maintained, professionally run.
