One & Two-day trips from Phuket on Greta

Greta, two day Phi Phi trips twice weekly

Two-day trips are available to the fabulous Phi Phi Islands on Friday and Saturday & again on Monday and Tuesday on Greta. These trips include 7-dives, hotel accommodation, and meals. It's like a mini-liveaboard and is advantages due to the distance to Phi Phi from Phuket (about 28 NM or 50 KM). This is 3.5 hours by boat, one way, so doing the trip in two-days makes a lot more sense.

One-day trips to the Similan Islands are not recommended by Siam Dive n' Sail. There are three reasons for this. One, most of the trips are offered on substandard speed boats which are not easy to dive from, are not generally safe, and if the weather turns bad quickly, you may have a very very long journey back. Two, most of these boats use two-stroke engines which are extremely hazardous polluting (one trip to the Similans creates as much pollution as driving an SUV or other large car for 10 years). Three, day diving in the Similans usually involves a lot of open water dive training and beginning divers, and these people should not be allowed in a such an environmentally sensitive area until they are qualified enough not to cause damage; there are other places to dive for beginners. Four, the closest mainland port is at least 40 nautical miles (80km) from shore, a long, long way in a bumpy unsafe speed boat. Wait until you have the time to do the trip properly; you don't have to see everything in one trip.

Again, these are our opinions only and it's up to you whether you choose to partake in such trips. We will not support them. When and if better boats come along, we may change our minds.
